LONDON: With 40 days to go until the first ever Climate Week Paris begins, The Climate Group has launched a mobile-friendly website to track events and showcase the leading businesses and governments which will be there.

Climate Week is one of the biggest events in the international calendar for major businesses and government leaders to act on climate, and has been organized by The Climate Group for the last seven years in New York City.

But in May, marking six months before the French capital city welcomes the global COP21 climate talks in December, this is the first year Climate Week will be hosted in Paris.

Taking place from May 18-24, Climate Week Paris will send a powerful message to climate negotiators at COP21: that forward-thinking companies want an effective global deal because it makes good business sense. By connecting top corporate, government and civil society leaders through a series of key events, we will show strong climate action means a smart global economy.

You can see a full list of events on our just-launched website, ClimateWeekParis.org, which includes a calendar, event maps, social media feeds and news.

Organized by major business networks including The Climate GroupEntreprises pour l’Environnementthe World Business Council for Sustainable Development and UN Global Compact, and supported by We Mean Business, the week-long summit will include events focused on the role businesses can play in the climate challenge, the importance of private-public partnerships, and what world leaders must do to achieve a successful outcome at COP21.

A cornerstone event of the Climate Week Paris is the Business and Climate Summit, on May 20-21. Here, leaders of major businesses from around to world will gather with policymakers to demonstrate their own ambitious actions, as well as to identify and adopt solutions to accelerate a global low carbon society. The Summit will encourage companies to take decisive actions to meet the urgency of the climate challenge and deliver powerful solutions.

Two side events take place during the Business and Climate Summit. The Science Based Targets Initiative is promoted by CDP, WWF, World Resources Institute and United Nations Global Compact, and presents a new methodology to set corporate greenhouse gas targets aligned with climate science. Then the International Federation of Consulting Engineers will host a conference to underscore the importance of developing smart cities to face the consequences of climate change.

On May 22, Climate Finance Day will spotlight a key issue for businesses on the road to COP21; how our economy will shift the trillions required to limit global warming to 2 degrees. Financial operators will gather in Paris to discuss today's available solutions, underscore successful policies and ensure the necessary transition toward a low carbon economy is supported by responsible investment.

Also on the same day, the Business for Social Responsibility Spring Forum Series will hold an event dedicated to how high-emitting sectors, such as transportation, agriculture and oil and gas, can cut their CO2 emissions and develop fast mitigation strategies.

Visit ClimateWeekParis.org for the latest events, news and partner information, and join business, finance and government leaders for Climate Week Paris from May 18 - during the most important year for climate action in history.
